Advanced Kayaking Instruction

Advanced Covers: Crossings, Rescues, Wind/Tide Reading

This full-day course will introduce you to more advanced boat handling skills in moderate wind and current conditions. Crossings, rescues and wind training are a necessity for any kayaker looking to perform rescues in moderate weather conditions or become proficient with nautical charts and other on-water navigational tactics.

Our advanced condition training builds upon stroke technique to help kayakers maneuver through choppy inlet waterways and also includes open water crossing. Towing techniques as well as high braces are covered in this course.

Beginner and Intermediate Kayaking Instruction or equivalent experience is a prerequisite for this course unless you have explicit permission from the instructor.

If you’d like to consolidate your learning experience, the Advanced Kayaking Instruction course may be taken in conjunction with the Intermediate Kayak Instruction course during a single weekend.
